Yesterday was a very busy day! We had two shows at the Barrows Civic Theatre – a 1pm and an 8pm. The first show was a matinee while the second one was a full show. We loaded in on Thursday night so we could have some time to work on the new illusions that we are taking to Asia in a few weeks.
Everyone at the theatre was great. We had a large load in crew so everything came in quickly and smoothly. Cindy did an amazing job of finding space for everything to live!
We were able to rehearse the new magic effects and put them into the show – everything that will be going with us overseas (with the exception of once illusion) was in the show last night. It was slammed backstage! And David and Cindy hardly had a chance to breathe with the fast transitions and limited space. There was at least as much magic going on backstage and there was in front of the audience!
We’ve had the Brick Wall in for the fall season and it’s still getting tremendous responses. Last night we also added Head’s Off, Going-Going-Gone, and Elevation to the show. Each one got the response we had hoped for. It’s really encouraging when you get a strong response in the first public presentation. The audience was excellent – smaller than our usual crowd – but very enthusiastic.
Today, we’re heading back to Virginia. There is so much to do in the next two weeks to prepare for Asia. Our freight company contacted us and wants us to pick up the freight earlier than we had planned because of flight changes, etc. We’ve got 25 cases heading over to Hong Kong and Taiwan this season that we have to get organized. Cindy and David have been working the entire fall getting it together so we’re right on target.
Okay, gotta run and start the rig! It’s time to go home!!
