After wrapping the show at the Mayo Performing Arts Center, we all jumped back into the truck to make the 4 hour drive to Gaithersburg, MD. We arrived around 2:30am and was in bed by 3am. We have two shows in Germantown at the Blackrock Performing Arts Center. This is the first time we’ve been here – and our show is a new experience for them as well. This is the 10th anniversary of the center and they decided to do something “magical” for the audience. Good news – tickets sold extremely well and both performances were sold out…Standing Room Only tickets were sold in order to make room for as many people as possible.
We loaded in, made a few adjustments, and set up the show. The stage is intimate but Alan and Chase did a great job of getting everything in and making it work. Once Cindy arrived, she was able to tweak a few things. There’s not a bad seat in the house – and it’s well designed. The audience is “right there” in front of you. From the stage, I could see every face of each person in the audience – intimate!
The illusions were strategically placed in the wings and anywhere else they could get them. Keith and I worked hard on the lights – including the moving lights – to create a magical atmosphere in such a beautiful space.
Both shows were very well received. We had great volunteers – and the intimacy of the space made the magic come to life on the stage. One of our friends from our college-performing days was at the Saturday night show. Afterwards, Cindy and I joined Ken and Denise for a bite to eat. It was nice to just sit, talk, and relax with old friends. I picked up a couple of Facebook friends as well. Here are just a couple of comments:
I was at your show in Germantown, Md. Saturday evening and met you after the show. Thanks for an outstanding performance from you and Cindy. I brought my daughter Katie and son-in-law Tom. You have quite a talent for your profession and I can see why you have been so successful. May this success continue in the years ahead!! (Dan – fan)
Great Show !! ?I loved your show. You guys had me rolling! Thank you again for putting on such a wonderful show. My entire family thoroughly enjoyed your remarkable show. A magician builds curiosity, but a magician that can make the entire audience belly laugh with curiosity is a hard to find gem!! Cheers to you and your wife and what you do. (Randy – fan)
Thank you to everyone show supported the shows – and thanks to the entire staff and crew for making our two days in Germantown fun!
