Today we head toward Waterloo, IA. The weather here is suppose to make a significant change today and it has already started early this morning – rain turns to snow. Lots of snow! We’re getting out of here to see if we can drive below the snow line and then head to Iowa.
The performance last night at the Center for Fine and Performing Arts was one of the most fun shows of this season. We started the day off on a great note by working with a crew who was eager to work with us in putting up the production. Under the direction of Rick Clever (a great guy whom we’ve worked with in the past at another Ohio venue), the rest of these guys – Chris, Adam, Henry, Chris and Bryan – worked really hard for us and the show went up in record time! One of the best things is they knew how to have fun AND work at that same time. It was a really great day for us at the CFPA.
The audience was very responsive to the things we did. The comments in the lobby afterwards were very supportive. I love it when the adults take the time to share with me their thoughts about the show – and their eyes light up like a child when they talk about their favorite illusion. All of us – the Theatre of Illusion team – try to put out the best possible show we can in every situation. Hearing the comments afterwards is incredibly rewarding – hearing the responses and the applause during the show really motivates us from moment to moment. This audience was awesome!
We always enjoy it when the local magicians attend the show. There were many of them there last night and I had the chance to talk with some of them. The “magic comments” were just as positive. That kind of support from your peers is humbling.
Well, we’re off to Waterloo!
