Our stop for the night was in Chillicothe, Ohio. This puts us about 3 hours from Toledo where I have a Healing of Magic workshop tonight for about 150 therapists. I really enjoy doing this presentations, watching therapists get excited when they look at their vocations in a new and different way. It’s inspiring for me and, hopefully, for them as well.
Inspiration comes to me in many different ways. This morning, I woke early before the sun was up. I took Carter outside to run around and we watched the sun rise, painting the most brilliant colors across the sky. The low clouds reflected the beauty of the source and it was spectacular…peaceful and humbling. It made me think about the events of the last couple of weeks, the “troubles” we’ve experienced that you’ve read about on this blog. As humans, we often think that our problems are a result of something we did wrong and we’re being punished by God or bad karma. But my devotions this morning caused me to think about all of this in another way. I thought I would share some of that with you. This comes from the book of Philippians 4 (The Message):
“Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in Him! Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.”
“Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious – the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into His most excellent harmonies.”
Sometimes we get through difficult times by talking with a friend. They can help us get a grip on things. Prayer is nothing more than talking to God in the same way we would a friend, sharing our hearts. I believe He cares about me and, much like the clouds this morning that reflected the beauty of the sun, I want my life to reflect the goodness of the Source.
My day is about to kick in. I have a tons of emails to answer this morning and then an interview at 9:30am with a newspaper in Bowling Green, KY for a show we have nearby on February 12. Gotta get to work!
