Halloween at the Community Theatre in Morristown, NJ. Â What a great day! Â This was our third appearance here over the years and the crew was ready for us. Â We work with the local IATSE 632 as well as the house team. Â The new theatre is beautiful and, for the first time, we were able to bring in illusions that we have not been able to perform here in the past.
The load in went smoothly as did the rest of set up. Â When it came time to test the hazers however, we managed to set off the fire alarms and bring out the fire department – firemen, trucks, and all. Â Turns out it wasn’t our fault. Â Ventilation that should not have been turned on was moving haze into areas of the theatre where it didn’t belong. Â We were cleared and our day continued (without further problems).
Doors opened at 7:15pm for the 8pm show. Â It was mostly an adult audience, a few kids scattered through the crowd. Â You would think Halloween would bring out the “family audience” but after a full day of work and then trick-or-treating, I think families were ready to stay home and relax. Â Most of you know that our show is very “family-friendly” but designed with an adult audience in mind. Â We want those adults to be baffled and amazed right along with the children. Â The crowd was perfect – volunteering, applauding, reacting and responding. Â It was a great way to spend out Halloween!
