Now and then, we get to take some time and visit the local attractions. Last night, it was the Hutchinson Mall. Today, it was the Cosmosphere and it was very cool! I would never have imagined that something of this magnitude would be in Kansas – what a treasure this is in this community.

We spent the entire afternoon walking through the Cosmosphere. What is it? It’s a museum with an IMAX theatre, Planetarium and exhibits all about the space program. They actually house the Apollo 13 space capsule and the Endeavor shuttle in this building. Several years ago, Cindy and I did a fundraising event for a Children’s Research Hospital in Wilmington, NC. Four hundred celebrities (from various fields) and their friends attended the golf tournament/auction. One of those celebrities was Alan Shephard and his wife, Louise. Alan was the first American in space and walked on the moon in Apollo 14. We had the privilege of spending some time with them and listening to his amazing stories of “outerspace.” Unfortunately, both he and his wife have passed away. Today, we saw so many pictures of him in the museum and it brought back great memories.

Tonight, I’m crashing the water park that is housed in the hotel – yes, IN the hotel! So, I’m getting ready to put on my swim suit and head to the pool area….

Tomorrow, the show at the beautiful FOX THEATRE in Hutchinson, KS. I’ll write more on Saturday after the show.
