After a fairly treacherous drive the night before through the icy mountains of western North Carolina, we were up early and on our way to Cullowhee. I had received an email a few days before from Paul Lormand letting me know that the show was sold out – 1000 seats! We have worked with Paul in the past and each and every time he has successfully sold out our show in whatever state he was in – Wisconsin, Oklahoma, and now North Carolina. He is a wonderful person and a friend to Cindy and I for many years.

The Fine & Performing Arts Center at WCU is beautiful! We backed the truck up to the loading dock and the crew was eager to help make our day a good one. Michael DeLorm is the Technical Director and he had gone to great lengths to accommodate our light plot and line schedule. The day moved along at a steady pace with no problems. Throughout the day, Paul would give us updates – the phones were continuing to ring off the hook from people wanting tickets and he had started a waiting list with almost enough people on it to sell out a second show! Next time, we’ll have to do two shows here.

We had some wonderful marketing here too. THE GUIDE did a cover story with a couple of pages of full color photos and a great article on the show. I’m sure this helped generate lots of interest. I met people after the show that had drives as far away as Statesville to attend – that’s about 3 hours from Cullowhee!

We were able to set up our video camera for this show and get some high definition footage for us to review. Del also used his new camera to get some pretty cool pictures for us!

This was a really great way for us to end this leg of the tour! A wonderful host, crew, theatre, and audience! What more could you ask for? Every day I wake up and pinch myself, THIS is what I get to do for a job! Every day is an experience…
