Nolan and I arrived in Oskaloosa fairly early in the afternoon on Tuesday. We both had work to do so we checked into the hotel and got started.
Keith and Cindy (and Carter) arrived around 6pm, flying from Virginia through Atlanta. They landed in Des Moines, got a rental car and drove the 60 miles to Oskaloosa. Once they arrived, we got some food and relaxed for the rest of the night.
I was up early Wednesday morning to drive to Sioux City, IA for a Healing of Magic workshop. It was a little further than I had anticipated – about 258 miles to be exact – and, with the morning traffic in Des Moines, it took me almost 5 hours to get there. I arrived at St. Luke’s Hospital to a welcoming group of therapists. Jane Arnold (the head of the rehab department) and Melissa (from the Orpheum Theatre) were there to meet me. We had a great group of therapists who were intrigued by the use of magic tricks in therapy. The in-service program lasted about an hour and the therapists did a great job mastering the tricks and determining the specific goals.
I think we’ll get some good media attention from the visit as well, which should help remind people of the performance on Friday night at the Orphuem. The television station was there as well a reporter and photographer from the local newspaper. Once it was over, I made the 258 mile trek back to the hotel.
Today, we’re at the George Daily Auditorium in Oskaloosa, IA. We’ve been here twice in the past several years so I’m really excited to be bringing in the new show. We were out to dinner last night at TASOS’ and saw a HUGE poster of ourselves advertising the show tonight. I should have taken a picture to post but didn’t have my phone with me.
We’ll be driving right after the show tonight to get to Sioux City….it’s a bit of a drive and we need to get about 3 hours down the road. I probably won’t post again until Saturday about both shows.
