We had the chance to sleep in this morning – a rare occurrence on the road. After the show last night, we grabbed a bite to eat at the local SONIC fast food place. But today, we have an excellent treat to look forward to for lunch – a meal at the best Mexican food place in town…LEAL’s.

One of the gentleman who helped us set up and worked the show last night at Marshall Auditorium is Louie Pacheco.  He has a passion for theatre and happens to be the manager of this particular restaurant.  He was our very gracious host for lunch today.  The menu here has so much from which to choose but Louie was helpful as we made our choices.  The food was AMAZING!  The portions were huge and we attempted to eat all of it…and leave some room for desert – sopapillas!

Now this is not just any sopapilla!  I had mine with fried ice cream on top and it was HUGE.  Really, just take a look and remember it’s on a NORMAL size plate!

Cindy, David and Keith got theirs with honey.  Kylie got her with ice cream as well.  After all the food we had already eaten, there was no way any of us were going to be able to finish off this BUT that didn’t mean we weren’t going to try.  Keith was considering just how to go about tackling this dish!

I didn’t have any trouble taking that first bite – it was the last few that I couldn’t manage.

Louie and his team at LEAL’S took great care of us.  But the really cool thing is, as we looked around the restaurant, every server provided excellent service to each and every patron.  This is service the way it’s supposed to be!

As a special “send off” gift, Louie gave us 2 cases of their special salsa – one medium and one hot.  It was a great way to close our Clovis adventure!

THANK YOU LOUIE!  It was a real pleasure to meet you, your fiance and your entire team.  We’ll look forward to seeing you all again on our next visit to Clovis!

After this fantastic lunch at LEAL’S, we climbed back into the rig and started the drive toward Las Vegas.  We had already decided to stop in Santa Rosa for the night.  Along the way, we took a small detour in Fort Summer, NM to check out the Billy The Kid museum and grave site.  I’ll write more about that tomorrow.
