Last week we were working in Louisiana – where spring has arrived! Our first stop was Lake Charles, almost to the Texas border. Our show was at the Lake Charles Civic Center.
But before that first show, I had the opportunity to visit one of the most unique therapy places I’ve seen in a long time – a Therapeutic Riding Center. I was able to talk with the therapist in charge, watch a therapy session, and then work with some of the kids who come to “the farm.” It was a very cool experience!
In the afternoon, I conducted a workshop for physical, occupational, and speech therapists at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital in Sulphur. The local NBC affiliate attended the workshop and ran a nice story on the evening news. You can watch it HERE.
The following day was our performance at the Lake Charles Civic Center. We had a huge spread in the local paper complete with color photos. This generated quite a bit of excitement and we ended up selling out the Civic Center – more than 2,000 enthusiastic people in that audience!
Following our performance in Lake Charles, we made the 3.5 hour drive to Slidell, LA for a performance at the newly built Slidell Municipal Auditorium. With more than 600 people in attendance, it was a packed performance. A great way to end our time in Louisiana!
Our longest break of the Spring tour is now so we drove like crazy to get home in one day. And it’s a good thing because the latest spring snow storm was making its way across the country and into Virginia. The morning drive out of Louisiana was a little creepy, like a Stephen King movie…and by the time we reached home, the snow had arrived!
I’m looking forward to a few days in Virginia…with or without snow, it’s good to be home.
