We’ve been working hard these past two days to get everything ready for the first show of the season. We leave in the morning for Maryland – quick trip out and back home again. With all the meetings of the last two weeks, I’ve got lots of things to do in the office before we leave again. Thank God September is always a bit “sporadic” with performances before it all starts hitting hard in October!
I had a little “incident” last week at the LAX airport while returning home from a trip out that way. Without going into a lot of detail, someone attacked me in the airport and I have filed charges – three felonies including robbery, threats of bodily harm, and assault with a deadly weapon. The dude completely destroyed my computer so I apologize if I’ve been a little late with BLOG postings and email returns. While I’m a bit rattled, I’m fine…minimal bruising.
Someone once wrote, “It is not the crisis that builds something within us – it simply reveals what we are made of already.” More than ever, my faith was important to me that day. During the entire attack, I stayed very calm – almost disconcertingly calm. The officers later indicated that, if I had reacted to the guy, he would have (most likely) killed me. I wonder why these things happen but my faith at least gives me the assurance that God is in control of all circumstances and situations in my life. It’s not a matter of right and wrong, but a matter of God taking me through a way that I temporarily don’t understand. In the end, the most important thing for me to remember is that nothing happens in my life that doesn’t first pass through the fingers of God’s hand.
