We left Lynchburg this morning on a 6:20am flight for Des Moines via Atlanta. Â Leaving that early means we had to be up very early – 4am. Â Flights were uneventful and, when we landed in Des Moines, the temperatures were very mild and it was a beautiful day.
We picked up our luggage and caught the shuttle to the Economy lot where we had our semi parked. Â Once loaded up, a Parking Supervisor was kind enough to lead us through the parking lot to the exit gate. Â Once we were on Highway 5, we were on our way to Ottumwa.
The good news is that the truck started with no problems at all! Â We are having some trouble with the generator so, once we arrived in Ottumwa, I found a diesel repair shop that is going to work on it first thing in the morning. Â Unfortunately for me, that also means another early morning because I have to have the truck there at 7am.
Dinner tonight…I walked up the alley to an Ottumwa landmark called The Canteen. Â I walked in and was greeted warmly by smiling faces asking, “What can I get you?” Â When I said that I wasn’t sure, they said, “We only serve one thing – loose meat burgers. Â Ketchup, mustard, pickles, and onions or any variation thereof, with or without cheese.”
I opted for two burgers with cheese, everything but the onions. Â I also picked up a couple of pieces of fresh baked pie. Â The right choice!
The show here is tomorrow night at the newly built Bridge View Center for the Arts. Â This is going to be a fun show. Â Friends of ours from Iowa – Dan and Shantel Dow and family – are driving to see the show.
On another note, the article ran today in the Detroit Lakes Newspaper for the show next Friday the 13th!
