I’m very excited about the meeting I had last night with Ren Hui and the students from Raffles School, as well as John and Betsy Teo and Kien Meng. The students from Raffles School have been coordinating our Healing of Magic program now for several years. And they’ve done an outstanding job with it too – volunteering hundreds and hundreds of hours of their time. They are an amazing group of students!
With the success of the program, there is a strong need to expand it to a couple of other facilities in Singapore. On our initial visit in 2002, we were able to train therapists at three hospitals but the program exists only at National University Hospital. John Teo, Kien Meng and the magicians of Ring 115 would like to work to help expand the program.
The next morning, I continued meeting with several people from Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines and Australia to start firming up our tours there in 2008 and 2009. These were very productive conversations and we are really excited to see things starting to come together for our third Asian Tour and our first tour in Australia in many, many years!
Once I finished up with the meetings, I had the chance to go out and take advantage of the Great Singapore Sale – a huge annual sale in Singapore on everything!
The following day – and my last day in Singapore – I had the unexpected opportunity to get together with Joanie Spina. Joanie is a great friend AND has given us incredible direction in the presentation of our illusions in the show – absolutely the best magic director in the business! She is in Singapore for a couple of working providing her expertise to an Asian magician. She arrived early Sunday morning and we spent the day together – lunch, shopping, exploring, dinner, etc. It was great to see her – it’s a very small world!
I am leaving my hotel in Singapore now to head home. The 26 hour journey (Singapore – Narita – Wash, DC – home) will be a long one. But I can’t wait to see Cindy!!!
