One of the things that keeps me excited about my job is the fact that it’s never the same – different stage in a different theatre in a different town with a different crew for a different audience every night.  How perfect is that!  This time, our journey was to Warren, PA and the Struther’s Library Theatre – the 18th oldest theatre in the U.S.

We arrived the day before the show because Sue (from Struther’s Theatre) had arranged for me to bring the Hocus Focus project into two different schools.  I love working with these amazing students!  Thursday was an incredible and inspiring day watching these kids come to life, become engaged in learning, and motivated to learn new skills.  The local newspaper was kind of enough to cover the event with a nice article, MAGICAL LEARNING.

Friday was “show day” – so we loaded in, got set up, and even had some time to rehearse a new illusion that we’ve been working on for a couple of months.  I think it’s ready to hit the stage…and, maybe, we’ll debut it this weekend in New Jersey?!

The audience on Friday night was unbelievable – fun, excited, enthusiastic, and ready to have a good time.  From the first illusion to the last, they responded so well with laughter, gasps, and applause.  The finale even evoked a mid-performance standing ovation…how awesome is that!

This morning, we were on the road heading to New Jersey.  The trees are almost at the peak of their color and the drive was spectacular.

The “shocker” came as we pulled across the New Jersey state line and needed to put some fuel in the truck.  Wow, prices are soaring on diesel fuel this fall with steady increases almost every week.  It’s been almost 3 years since we paid these kinds of prices.

I’ll be working in Somerville on Monday and Tuesday doing some outreach work with Healing of Magic and Hocus Focus (thanks to Cindy and Alan at RVCC) and then coming back here on Saturday for a performance at the Theatre at RVCC.  I’m so looking forward to the show! And on Thursday, I’ll be working in Vineland, NJ with the performance on Friday night at the Frank Guaracini Fine and Performing Arts Center.  Check it out and, if you’re in the area, come spend your evening with us!
